จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 2460 โดยเป็นหนึ่งในสถาบันอุดมศึกษาที่มีเกียรติและชื่อเสียงโด่งดังที่สุดของไทย หอประชุมใหญ่ของจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยสร้างขึ้นมาตั้งแต่ปี 2482 โดยได้แรงบันดาลใจจากสถาปัตยกรรมศิลปะแบบไทย
